Guildford Clinical Pharmacology Unit Ltd

Guildford Clinical Pharmacology Unit Limited (GCPUL) is a Clinical Research Organisation, formed in 1994 and acquired by ReGen Therapeutics Plc on 25th October 2004.
GCPUL performed clinical trials for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, using its associations with the Royal Surrey County Hospital and the University of Surrey in Guildford, UK. Following it’s acquisition by ReGen, it became ReGen’s ‘in house’ Contract Research Organisation, advising the Group on all aspects of its clinical trial programs.
Towards the end of 2007 it became clear that the clinical research sector in the UK would face ever-stronger competition from CRO’s based elsewhere in Europe, Asia and, increasingly, in India. In consequence, the decision was made to gradually wind-down GCPUL’s operations, until such time as the future prospects for the UK industry improve. The work that GCPUL performed for companies outside of the ReGen Group was completed by the middle of 2008, following which the office in Guildford was closed. The company remains registered at Companies House, but has effectively been ‘mothballed’ for the foreseeable future.
Two of the original founders of GCPUL, Dr Andrew Sutton and Dr Graham Mould, continue to advise ReGen on its clinical development projects.
All enquiries concerning GCPUL should be directed to the ReGen Head Office.
